Alors, attendez, j'essaie de comprendre un peu.

Le monsieur de l'article, Jim Hill, prétend que

"Tomorrowland" is actually about Walt Disney's involvement with an Army project to let the world know that UFOs really exist.[...] It was their hope that, through the fanciful eyes of Walt Disney, he could release this information in a way that wouldn't cause mass hysteria or social upheaval (the documentary would touch on the fact that aliens have been visiting Earth periodically throughout history.)

What? Il dit ça sérieusement, le mec ?

Non parce que ce projet Blue Book, après un peu de lecture, a abouti sur la Comission Robertson en janvier 1953, qui a déclaré que

Most UFO reports, they concluded, could be explained as misidentification of mundane aerial objects, and the remaining minority could, in all likelihood, be similarly explained with further study. The Robertson Panel recommended that a public education campaign should be undertaken in order to reduce public interest in the subject, minimising the risk of swamping Air Defence systems with reports at critical times, and that civilian UFO groups should be monitored.

Le rapport indique également que le gouvernement s'inquiète des répercussions de cette hystérie collective sur la capacité du pays à réagir à de potentielles menaces bien réelles (au hasard, soviétiques).

Le phénomène des témoignages d'OVNI aux USA peut s'expliquer par l'héritage culturel du pays à l'époque. Et là, j'apprends que soi-disant, le gouvernement voulait demander à Disney d'annoncer, par le biais d'un cartoon, que les OVNI étaient réels..? C'est une uchronie, non ?

Quant à la photo avec ce Major Woodlief, elle aurait été prise en 1943, en plein dans la période des films de propagande anti-Nazis. Reste à voir quel est le rapport avec les OVNI.

Bref, je suis sceptique. J'ai déjà du mal à croire que le gouvernement ait jamais demandé à Disney de faire un film attestant de l'existence des OVNI (mais je veux bien des preuves). Ensuite, j'espère que si c'est tout de même ça l'histoire, ce serait bien qu'ils puissent en traiter avec humour, mais si possible sans cynisme lindelofien merdique. Le type a rarement eu de bonnes idées jusque là.

T'inquiète, Lindelof va réussir.

Normalement, avec un duo "bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity" et "former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment", on devrait avoir notre quota d'émerveillement enthousiaste... et vu le passif de Brad Bird dans le domaine (aussi bien dans le Géant de Fer que dans Ratatouille), ça devrait pas être dégueu. Et au niveau des relations entre les deux personnages, si c'est du niveau des Indestructibles, ça devrait être du tout bon !

'Walt Disney is not a character in our movie, but he is referenced as having some involvement in this mysterious place called Tomorrowland, as a huge futurist and aficionado of space travel, rocketry, cities of the future, and space travel."

The outlet also offers our first bit of info about the film's plot, which they say is kick-started when Casey Newton (played by Britt Robertson) finds a mysterious pin which when touched reveals the place known as "Tomorrowland."

"There is a piece of technology in this pin, it's the kind of old-school pin you would wear on your lapel, and when you make physical contact with it, you have the illusion of being physically transported to another world, and that’s how Casey gets her first glimpse of Tomorrowland," Lindelof says."She is a Muggle who accidentally wanders across Platform 9 ¾ and sees something she probably shouldn't have."

"At first when she experiences this thing, she's not sure if it’s real or not," Bird says. "It's kind of like being hit by a dream and not sure whether the dream was a dream or real."
